Meet Alyssa Pfaff, 2018 Summer Intern

Hi everyone, my name is Alyssa Pfaff and I am grateful to be the 2018 summer intern for the McHenry County Farm Bureau. I am a graduate of Marengo Community High School and currently enrolled at Iowa State University, where I am studying Agricultural Communications.

I am excited to have this opportunity with the Farm Bureau and develop skills and experience that will greatly benefit me in my future in agriculture. My interest in agriculture really began after joining FFA my freshmen year. Throughout my four years of FFA, I took full advantage of the leadership and public speaking opportunities offered by the organization. I held chapter offices including Reporter and Vice President for two years, as well as, serving as Section 6 Reporter and Section 6 Secretary. After attending various conferences that featured esteemed agriculture companies, I was determined to pursue a career in agriculture and hopefully work for a company specified in food sustainability. After my first semester at Iowa State, I changed my major from Ag Business to Ag Communications to better suit my career aspirations. At Iowa State, I was involved in Delta Gamma fraternity which has offered unique philanthropic opportunities, such as Corn for a Cause, Soup for Sight and creating braille letters to send to students at schools for the blind that Delta Gamma has funded and started. I plan to obtain positions in my sorority that will allow me to expand on my leadership skills and allow me to get a new experience as a leader. After college, I hope to pursue a career advocating for agriculture and giving back to the field that has captured my interest the past five years. I am extremely gracious for this opportunity and all the experience this internship will offer me.
