The McHenry County Fair 2023 is a celebration of 75 years in Woodstock, Illinois. At the fair, you can see 4-H, livestock and non-livestock shows, educational displays, various vendors from different businesses and organizations across the county, a carnival, and a variety of ground and grandstand entertainment.
Some fun Facts about the history of the Mchenry County Fair:
1948- Fair was held at 4-H Town, a property formerly known as old
fairgrounds in Woodstock. Farm Bureau was a sponsor of the 4-H
Club Show; 314 projects, 272 members.
1949-Farm advisor Bill Tammeus is best described as the “father of the fair” with the fair’s revival in 1949
1950- Fair went from 3 days to 4 days
1967- “Share the fun” act presented by the Wonder Workers 4-H Club proved a hit at 4-H night.
1969- Hanson Pavillion built
1970- the largest crowd to date in the history of livestock auction
1998- Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the fair
2010- August 5th, 4-H named after Cindy Harris in honor of her 21 years as a U of I Extension 4-H Community Worker.
