Area Legislative Officials receive “Friend of Agriculture” award

McHenry County Farm Bureau is honored to present the "Friend of Agriculture" award to two McHenry County Illinois General Assembly Members and one of our County's Congressional Representatives. Senator Althoff and Representative Tryon both earned the awards for their outstanding voting records and accessibility ratings.

McHenry County Farm Bureau also extends congratulations to Congressman Manzullo for receiving the "Friend of Agriculture" award.

McHenry County Farm Bureau greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with each of these legislative officials. "Our legislative officials have a great working relationship with our organization and serve our farmers and producers well," Dan Volkers, McHenry County Farm Bureau manager stated. The three officials received a 730 model John Deere tractor that is placed upon a white oak base plate that reads Friend of Agriculture.

In order to qualify for the "Friend of Agriculture" award the candidate had to achieve at least a 60% voting record and receive a high accessibility rating from the ACTIVATOR Trustee Committee. If you would like to review the bills and their points simply visit Illinois Farm Bureau's website at www.ilfb.org, click on the Issues and then Activator and follow the links.

Each year, the Illinois Farm Bureau compiles voting records of the Illinois General Assembly members on important agricultural issues. These voting records are compiled each year (primarily for use by ACTIVATOR Trustee Committees to determine "Friends of Agriculture" in odd-numbered years and for use in a general election voter's handbook in even-numbered years). Voting records will contain votes cast in the current General Assembly.

The roll calls of several key agricultural issues are selected. Roll calls used are left to the discretion of the Illinois Farm Bureau Board of Directors. The Illinois Farm Bureau Board of Directors assigns variable weights to roll call votes used, ranging from five to twenty-five points and reflecting the overall importance of the issue to Illinois agriculture.
