Hi! My name is Dylan Kanner and I am interning at the McHenry County Farm Bureau for the duration of summer 2022. I am truly proud to have been given this opportunity and am very excited to be working here for the summer.
I am an incoming junior studying Agricultural and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois. I am from Algonquin, Illinois and I graduated from Dundee Crown High School in May of 2020. I entered college with an interest in studying something in between business and the environment, where I found the department of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. Alongside my academics, I have been involved in a few organizations on campus, including a business sustainability club called ActGreen. I plan to study abroad in Vienna, Austria in spring of 2023 at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences. My interest in agriculture and my desire for sustainability has led me to intern at the McHenry County Farm Bureau this summer. My mother, Cynthia Kanner, who is the executive director of the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, has also influenced me to become involved in nonprofits and environmental awareness. Farms play a big part in the state of our ecosystems and food production levels, so I'm excited to be able to apply my knowledge from my studies and learn more about how farms are represented and managed in McHenry County.
Following graduation, I plan to work in a sustainable consulting sector at a commodity processing company and eventually pursue an MBA degree.
