Valley Orchard Summer Horticulture Day

Illinois Horticulture Field Day is set for Thursday, June 9, 2016
Raoul and Jodie Bergersen, owners of Valley Orchard in Cherry Valley, Illinois, welcome you to their farm for the 2016 Horticulture Field Day. The field day provides the opportunity to learn about Valley Orchard’s farm operations. This 35-acre farm grows apple trees, small fruits, vegetables and pumpkins. Their farm market offers fresh cider, made-from-scratch apple pies, apple cider donuts, caramel apples, and other unique treats and gifts.

MCFB Welcomes Edenburn

Hi, I'm Bailey Edenburn, a County Manager Trainee with Illinois Farm Bureau. If you've stopped into the office recently we've probably met. For those I haven't met, I am currently training to become a county manager for Illinois Farm Bureau and I am training in McHenry County through April.

Scholarship Available

McHenry County Farm Bureau Agricultural Education Foundation is offering a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is available for high school seniors pursuing continuing education in agriculture or agriculture-related fields. The applicant or the applicant's family must be a member of the McHenry County Farm Bureau to qualify. Additional scholarships may be awarded if funds are available at the time of judging.

All scholarship applications need to be received by April 1, 2016.

Agricultural Internship Available

McHenry County Farm Bureau is excited to once again offer an agriculture related summer internship.

The selected intern will gain valuable experiences in program planning, Ag in the Classroom, media, governmental affairs and public relations. The selected individual will receive valuable work experience, funds to further his or her education and the opportunity to receive college credit.

The internship is open to McHenry County residents who will be a sophomore, junior or senior at a college or university this fall. Preference is given to applicants who have a farm background and/or are studying an agriculture-related field.

McHenry CFB honored

McHenry County Farm Bureau President Michele Aavang accepts a recognition plaque awarded to the Bureau for its achievements during 2015. The award was presented during the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and calls attention to the comprehensive nature of the County Farm Bureau's programs and activities.
