McHenry County Farm Bureau Women's Committee donated 20 kitchen welcome packs to homeless veterans who are in the process of rebuilding their lives at New Horizons in Hebron. New Horizons provides food, shelter and case management services.
Bruce Meier, past McHenry County Farm Bureau President, accepts a recognition plaque awarded to the Bureau for its achievements during 2012. The award was presented during the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and calls attention to the comprehensive nature of county Farm Bureau programs.
In program awards competition among county Farm Bureaus in Membership Group V, the following awards were received: A Gold award was received for Ag Literacy; Silver awards were received for Commodities & Marketing, Health & Safety, Legislative & Political Process, Local Affairs, Communication & Promotion, Member Relations and Policy Development. McHenry CFB also received a Bronze award for their efforts in Multi-County projects.
McHenry County Farm Bureau is excited to once again offer an agriculture related summer internship. The selected intern will gain valuable experiences in program planning, Ag in the Classroom, media, governmental affairs and public relations. The selected individual will receive valuable work experience, funds to further their education and the opportunity to receive college credit.
Representative Jack Franks accepts Friend of Agriculture Award from McHenry County Farm Bureau President Michele Aavang. Legislative officials receive Friend of Agriculture Awards based on past voting record and level of accessibility.
McHenry County Farm Bureau's Foundation would like to extend a special thank you to Jim and Cheryl Wormley of Woodstock for their support of our Ag in the Classroom program. Their contribution will help support our Summer Agricultural Institute program for teachers and classroom visits. Contributions like these fund school agriculture programs and other valuable educational programs and grants.
McHenry County Farm Bureau and its Foundation provide the Ag in the Classroom program with financial and in-kind support. Demand for these programs continues to grow and we could use your assistance. Your donations benefit Summer Ag Institute, AITC Newsletters, Ag Expo, FFA Acquaintance programs, agriculture scholarships, teacher grants, teacher workshops and in class presentations.
