Area Legislative Officials receive “Friend of Agriculture” award

McHenry County Farm Bureau is honored to present the "Friend of Agriculture" award to two McHenry County Illinois General Assembly Members and one of our County's Congressional Representatives. Senator Althoff and Representative Tryon both earned the awards for their outstanding voting records and accessibility ratings.

McHenry County Farm Bureau also extends congratulations to Congressman Manzullo for receiving the "Friend of Agriculture" award.

Leaves for Ag. Land Application

The Open Burning of Landscape Waste Ordinance became effective April 1, 2008. Residents who may have been able to burn leaves in the past, may no longer be able to do so. Due to this, landscape waste haulers and lawn service companies will be picking up additional landscape waste removal contracts for the fall. If any area farmers are interested in receiving leaves for agricultural land application, please call the McHenry County Department of Health, Environmental Division at 815.334.4587. We will try to link you with a landscape waste hauler in your area.

Update on the Regional Planning Commission’s 2030 Plan, by Jim McNutt

Recognizing the superior quality of life enjoyed in McHenry County and realizing that the impact of change is inevitable, the County Board has directed the development of a long- range plan to guide the future of the County. To assist in this process, the Board created the McHenry County Regional Planning Commission for the purpose of developing the 2030 plan.

6th Annual Trek Deemed a Success

The 6th Annual Tractor Trek had 65 tractors participate in a 45 mile journey across three counties (Boone, DeKalb, and McHenry). Each driver received refreshments, donuts, a t-shirt, a hat and lunch. Conserv FS also provided drivers with an end of the day refueling. The program was designed to raise awareness of agriculture and raise funds for McHenry County Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom program.
