McHenry County Farm Bureau Women's Committee presented funds exceeding $400 and food donations exceeding 100 pounds to the Marengo Food Pantry. The donation was in recognition of Food Check-Out Week. The Women's Committee has visited a different food pantry each year for the last five years. In past years they have visited; McHenry, Harvard, Huntley and Woodstock food pantries.
With the continuing economic squeeze, many Americans are concerned that the cost of a healthy diet is out of reach. However, according to an Agriculture Department study, the cost of eating healthy hasn't changed as much as less-healthy alternatives. Eating healthy food within a budget does require smart shopping.
Ken Bauman and Dan Ziller received honors in Volunteer Membership recruitment from Illinois Farm Bureau. Bauman and Ziller both recruited 5 or more voting members during the last membership year. McHenry CFB congratulates Ziller and Buaman on the award and also extends thanks to all the volunteers and staff who have assisted with membership recruitment.
McHenry County Farm Bureau Women's Committee was honored with a gold star in committee awards competition among county Farm Bureaus in Membership Group IV. The Women's Committee also played a key role in securing two gold, two silver, and four bronze awards in the program competition among other county Farm Bureaus in the same membership group.
The McHenry County Farm Bureau was recognized for its achievements during the 94th annual meeting of the Illinois Farm Bureau held in Chicago, Illinois, December 6-9, 2008.
In committee awards competition among county Farm Bureaus in Membership Group IV, the Women's Committee received a Gold star.
